We watched a jousting tournament

And a demonstration of a Trebuchet, which can throw up to 6 tons of rocks in a castle siege.

Then a tour of the interior of castle. Annette considered what life would have been like with Henry VIII….

Beautiful rooms and decorating.

It was almost like returning to the castles of Portugal, especially the climbing

At last, Annette got close to one of the locals.

MONDAY
We dragged out of bed this morning and headed for the Convention Center for meetings and breakouts.
As planned, we met up with John Savage, a Rotarian from Stourbridge, who drove us to his home. Along the way we saw beautiful countryside

We stopped and had a soda and looked at the canal boats

The local pub provided the refreshments. Just a Coke, settle down….

The we watched them raise a lower the locks on the canal

We stopped briefly at John’s home to pick up his wife, Hilary, and see to his wonderful back yard. It was beautiful with flowers, trees and his own forest in the back.

It was then on to dinner at the home of Mike and Sheila Pettigrew. He is the President of the Club John is also a member of. And Sheila is from Merthyr Tydfil, a planned destination on Thursday. Also in attendance were Klaus and Glenys Hachfeld of Sturbridge Mass. The four of us has a wonderful dinner and visit.
