We just returned from a four day conference in St George and it flew by! But then, that’s the way it seems to go anymore.
I’ve determined that something significant has happened to the space/time continuum over the last number of years and that time has sped up considerably. Summers used to last forever, vacations were long enough to really do things, weekends were a great time to relax and/or get something done, and I used to be able to actually get some sleep at night. Now, because minutes are not the same length they used to be, it’s all flying by way too fast. I mean, one day I woke up and I was 50!
I have to admit, though…… I learned, and been reminded of, some interesting things over the last few days.
I am reminded that if you put three economists together in the same room, even if they have time to collaborate, none of them will agree on anything.
I know now what this whole “national mortgage crisis” is about. (OK, OK, I have a limited understanding. But enough to know it really torques me what’s been going on in the industry over the last few months and years. As well as knowing how it is affecting, and will be affecting, the economy.)
I have been reminded that it’s been 7 months since the last time I played 18 holes and I’ve not put much time into practice in the interim.
And I was reminded that the trade off for me spending an afternoon of golf with work associates is only naturally offset by an afternoon of shopping by Grandma Nettie.
I was also reminded how to lose gracefully to her at miniature golf the next day.
I have been reminded how much fun it is to swim with my family every day. And I have been reminded what a sunburn feels like in the shower…...
I was also very painfully reminded of what the lovely drive from home to St George and back on I-15 is like. Man, that’s some scenery! Ty asked if there was any way to take a short cut home. I reminded him that we were already taking the short cut home…..
Oh well, back to work already.
You know, with this whole space/time thing going on, one day soon I may wake up retired!
