The choice was whether to stick around and let Ty play his soccer game or head out for St George early in the day. I mean, after all, it’s only a soccer game, and a five hour trip to Southern Utah at 8:00 pm is not something I get real excited about.
However, BC United was ranked 3rd in the overall standings, we were already going to be short two players, and Ty really wanted to play. So I made the executive decision to stick around. I figured since I would be the one driving, the option was mine.
Tornado is a tough team and was 2nd in the standings going in. But BC played their hearts out! We quickly went up 1-0 and soon 2-0. It was a see saw after that as Tornado scored, then BC, then Tornado again, on a Penalty Kick. (With Ernesto refereeing, you never know what you’re going to get…..)
With the score 3-2, and the crowd white knuckled on the sidelines, BC came through with the “security goal” with about 8 minutes left. Then it was just hold on and keep them running.
The best part is that two scores came from players that normally aren’t on the front line scoring! It was a sweet win.
And well worth a late night run to Southern Utah.......
