I Sold What?!?

Since I became a car owner, I have either owned or regularly driven a number of classics.
(And a number of Not So Classics.)

My sister Kathy once gave me a Chevrolet Corvair.

Before I had my license, I drove it to Idaho with my first Rock and Roll band
for a concert in the thriving metropolis of Rupert.
It eventually developed a problem with the starter motor that couldn’t be repaired economically.
I sold it…..cheap.

As a teen ager, I once got a hold of a 1949 Dodge four door from a relative of my mom.

I drove it around the block a couple of times but it needed a lot to get it inspected
and I had lots of other things that needed money.
So I sold it…..cheap.

While my older brother was on a mission, I drove his 1964 Chevelle Malibu convertible.
283, “three on the tree”, burned oil like crazy. But it was fun.

When he got home, he sold it…..cheap.
I actually found it years later in a car show here, completely restored
and For
Sale…..Not Cheap!!

The first car I actually bought was a gorgeous 1973 Chevrolet Nova SS.

I lived in that car. 35,000 miles my senior year.
Lifted rear end. 50s on the rear, 60s on the front. 275 horse 350 w/Muncie four speed.
I remember doing 135 late one night racing on the “’vard”
Sold it for less than it was worth so I could go on a mission.
Found it years later in SLC. It had been trashed after becoming a stock car at Bonneville.

When I got home from Mexico, I bought a 1966 Oldsmobile Cutlass convertible.

The one I’m restoring.... Watch for a future post.

Since getting married, we’ve owned a 1974 Chevrolet Chevette, a 1973 Chev Pickup, a 1964 Chev pickup, a Toyota Crown, another Toyota that I can’t remember the name of, a 73 Gran Torino, three suburbans, an 88 Olds station wagon, 78 Chev Monte Carlo, Plymouth Belvedere, 2000 Toyota Camry, 2004 Toyota Avalon and my new 2007 Chev Silverado.

Plus, sitting to the side of the house, awaiting the time and money,
is a 1959 Mercury Montclair. Nice boat……

I’m sure I’ve missed one or two in there somewhere.
